Patent Glazing | The Old Dairy, Hewer Street, South London
This project at an upmarket new apartment development involved Design replacing old steel framed rooflights. The architect's brief called for retention of the appearance of the old rooflights whilst utilising low-maintenance materials.
To manufacture the rooflights - which ranged in size from 2.5 x 3 metres up to 11 x 3.5 metres - we used our own aluminium patent glazing system finished in white powdercoat paint and with double glazed units (6mm toughened glass externally and 64mm laminated glass inside).
The vertical glazing incorporates Design's plant-on putty bars and the opening lights are fitted with electrical control equipment designed to operate with thermostatic and rain sensors. We also included a light and aesthetically pleasing steel support system beneath the larger rooflights.
